High levels of glucose in blood will gradually affect other organs in our body. The risk of these complications increases with the duration and lesser control of diabetes. Ayurvedic treatment can manage or prevent the onset of these complications.
Nerve Damage (Diabetic Neuropathy)
About half of all people with diabetes will have some form of nerve damage. Excess sugar can injure the tiny blood vessels that provide nourishment to the nerves especially in the legs. This will cause tingling/ burning sensation or pain in the tips of fingers. If it is left untreated, it will spread to fingers and limbs causing pricking pain, loss of all sensation in affected part.
The nerve damage can happen in other systems related to digestion, urination or reproduction leading to complications.
Ayurveda explains medicines which can effectively prevent and manage neuropathy. Herbs repair the mild nerve damages and prevent them from further degeneration. It will cure the pricking pain in hands and feet.

Kidney damage (Diabetic Nephropathy)
The filtering system of kidney is made of millions of minute blood vessels. Excess sugar can damage the walls of these capillaries which may lead to kidney failure.
Eye complications (Diabetic Retinopathy)
Minute blood vessels of retina are prone to damage due to diabetes which may lead to visual impairment. Diabetes also increases the risk of other visual conditions like cataract and glaucoma.
Diabetes causes formation of carbuncles/boils and makes skin more susceptible to fungal and bacterial infections. As the blood flow is impaired the cuts and wounds can develop infections which delay the healing process. Untreated infection may lead to toe or foot amputation.
