It’s the season of weddings. Who doesn’t love weddings, mainly if it’s a celebrity wedding? Be it Anushka Sharma, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, or the newest bride in town Alia Bhatt. There’s no doubt that they all looked super gorgeous. And we know you are wishing the same for yours! Is it not?

So what makes them so special? It’s just not the makeup, duh. It all goes down to the bridal skin care routines.

Skincare is more important than make-up

As Bobbi Brown said, “On your wedding day, you should look like yourself at your most beautiful.”

Hiring a celebrity make-up artist is no big deal but the real game lies in the bridal skin care routine. Because the makeup looks the best when the canvas is taken care of.

The technology has advanced so much that it will take care of a host of skin issues such as pigmentation, skin congestion, and acne. But something as simple as cleansing, moisturizing, eating fresh food, and exercising is what can really make your skin look amazing.

Bridal skin care routine

Ayurveda is known to treat all conditions naturally. It’s completely sans chemicals.

“Roopam, gunam, vayastag, iti shubhanga karanam”
Roopam- the outer beauty is personified by shiny and healthy hair, plus clear and radiant skin tone.

Gunam- the inner beauty shines from within. It is characterized by a warm personality, kind-heartedness, and an innocent mind.

Vayastyag- It’s the beauty that lasts.

Thus, Ayurveda doesn’t depend upon cosmetics and treatment to achieve beauty. Beauty is what you reflect naturally on the surface and from within.

So, instead of turning into a bridezilla, try this super easy, simple, and cost-effective bridal skin care routine to get the gorgeous glow you deserve.

Abhyanga or Massages

Bridal skin care routine- massages

Abhyangam is an Ayurvedic holistic healing massage therapy, which relieves emotional stress more than physical stress. It is a whole-body massage using essential oils. The focus of the abhyanga is on the body’s energy points rather than the joints and muscles.

The bride-to-be must start with abhyanga as a bridal skin care routine to get much needed bridal glow.

The benefits of doing abhyanga are:

  1. Elimination of dead cells
  2. Calms nerves and promotes better sleep
  3. Improved blood circulation
  4. Reduces the aged look
  5. Makes skin soft and glowy

Visit an ayurvedic center monthly once for bridal glow and relaxation.

Physical activity

Bridal skin care routine- physical activity

The pursuit of bridal glow lies in skincare, no doubt. But that also includes physical activities. Exercising increases the blood flow and lymph flow which makes the skin glow and reduces the eye puffiness.

Have you ever felt happy after working out? This is because our body releases endorphins which are feel-good hormones. Apart from getting the bridal glow, you will also be less stressed.

Indulge yourselves in jogging, walking, and swimming. Try yoga asanas like Padmasana, Badhakonasana, Halasana, and Danushasana. These yoga asanas strengthen the lower back and pelvic bone (You will thanks us later *winks*)

DIY Face Packs

Bridal skin care routine- face masks

You might be tempted to salon facials and expensive creams to get flawless skin. But what if we tell you some of the best bridal skin care regimens with minimum holes in your pocket.

It’s time to rediscover all the DIY face masks from your grandma. The best part about these recipes is that they don’t have any side effects and give the best results.

#1. Raw milk acts as an excellent cleanser. Use this daily in the morning and before sleeping at night.

#2. Combine lemon juice and sugar. This mixture is an excellent scrubber. It removes the dead cells and also lightens the complexion.

#3. Gram flour and curd facemask: Mix some gram flour with curd and add a pinch of turmeric to it. This face mask is an excellent tan remover.

#4. Papaya facemask: Mash some papaya and add some honey and milk into it. Papaya has an excellent skin brightening and lightening effect.

Kumkumadhi Thailam

Kumkumadhi Thailam is the secret ayurvedic formulation for a natural glow. It is loaded with skin goodness and makes the skin bright, prevents premature aging, and gives an even-toned skin glow. You can use it at night before going to sleep to get the bridal glow. Include this in your bridal skin care routine without fail.

Vata Prakriti needs a rejuvenating product that penetrates deep and nourishes the skin. Kumkumadhi Thailam is befitting with its subtle action. You use this daily and leave it overnight.

Pitta prakritis’ skin needs balance. Because they have frequent skin eruptions and pores. Kumkumadhi Thailam acts as an astringent and moisturizer. This can also be used daily and left overnight.

Kapha Prakriti is blessed with gorgeous skin. Therefore, they just need to use it thrice a week.

P.S.: Do a patch test on hand before usage.

Nalpamaradi Thailam

Nalpamaradhi Thailam is a skin brightening oil. It is also an excellent tan remover.

You can use it for the whole body. Half an hour before going to bathe, massage this Nalpamaradhi Thailam in an upward direction. Then bathe in herbal soap.

Nalpamaradi Thilam is a one-stop solution to all skin problems and skin brightening. But it is ineffective if it isn’t used according to your skin type.

Red Sandalwood Powder

Wedding shopping takes a toll on you and your skin suffers too. For the bride-to-be, this is a crucial time and you can miss the shopping or the skincare. So to get the instant bridal glow, include the Red Sandalwood Powder face pack in your routine. It’s completely organic, without any side effects. You will feel refreshed and clean after using this face pack. An excellent inclusion in your bridal skin care routine.

But first, find out your Prakriti and Dosha. This way you can customize this face pack according to your skin type and reap maximum benefits.

Vata Prakriti has dry skin, therefore the face pack won’t stick properly. You have to mix Face pack powder with gram flour and milk as a base. Make it into a thick paste and apply. Wash it when the face pack tightens. Use it thrice a week

Pitta Prakriti has combination skin. Therefore, a face pack with rose water is enough. But you can also add gram flour and make it into a paste. Use this thrice a week.

Kapha Prakriti just has to use the face pack with rosewater or normal water. They have perfect skin, so the efforts required are minimal.

Having healthy diet

Bridal skin care routine- healthy diet

Having a regular skincare routine and working out is great but if you don’t eat right it’s all a waste. An unhealthy diet can damage your metabolism which will lead to weight gain and even damage to other organs.

A healthy diet benefits the entire body including the skin. Have a balanced diet. It contains every kind of food in certain quantities and proportions that has vitamins, minerals, protein, and calories adequate for the body to function properly. Include seasonal fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein in your diet.

Avoid foods that are high in sugar, saturated fat, and salt. These foods make your skin look dull and also cause weight gain. And you don’t want that happening before your D-day, right?

Drinking adequate water

Bridal skin care routine- Drink enough water

Water is a miracle drink man cannot live without. With all wedding preparations taking a toil, it’s easy to forget about drinking water.

If you want that soft, fresh, and glowing skin for the bridal glow, then make sure you consume an adequate amount of water. The secret to enhancing your beauty and prolonging your youthful look lies in drinking water. Because it helps maintain an optimal body temperature, keeping the skin moist. It hydrates and replenishes the skin tissues leading to an increase in the skin’s elasticity. This helps delay the signs of aging such as wrinkles, dark circles, or fine lines.

Haircare

Bridal skin care- Hair care

You have given undivided attention to skincare. But what about your hair? The crowning glory of every girl? Don’t forget only a perfect hairdo will bring the whole wedding look together.

Start eating protein-rich food, lean meat, milk, curd, almonds, and green leafy vegetables. Don’t forget to oil your hair regularly, apply the scalp, and massage lightly.

And if you want to get a haircut do it now, before 3 months, and not as the last resort. Because it will ruin your look.

Revitalize your hair with some hair masks and not with keratin treatments. They will do wonders trust us.

For Vata people make a hair mask of Marudani/Mehendi and curry leaves. Mehendi is a coolant and improves hair growth. Curry leaves control hair loss and strengthens the hair. This mask makes the dry Vata hair into shiny, smooth hair.

Pitta people need to make hair masks of neem leaves, Mehendi, and karisalamkani.

There is no need for Kapha people to make hair masks because they tend to have naturally soft and silky hair.

Adequate Sleep

Bridal skin care- sleep is a must

The last thing you want on your D-day is looking exhausted. Ensure that you get adequate sleep to be fresh as a daisy on the wedding day.

Sleep is considered the third pillar of health- along with a sound diet and exercise. Sleep is important for many reasons. One is the production of HGH (Humann Growth Hormone), which is important for regenerating and creating new cells in our body while we sleep.

A sound sleep calms the body and keeps the stress at bay.

Your fiance might keep you up all night texting. But remember beauty sleep is a must for the bridal glow or else you will wake up like a panda the next day. So keep it short and limit your screen time to prevent the dark circles.

Relax or Meditate

Bridal skin care- stay stress free

Being a bride and planning a wedding on top of it is stressful enough. But it is really really important to be stress-free. Stress is known to cause skin breakouts and you don’t want that to happen on your big day, right?

We know it is easier said than done but still try to keep your mind cool and meditate when needed.

Enjoy the single-hood while it lasts

Bridal skin care- Enjoy singlehood

Weddings might be just around the corner. But the most important thing is- that you will be saying goodbye to singlehood. It’s a great feeling getting married to the love of your life but at the same time, you never know how “the married” phase might go. But YOSO- You’re Single Only Once, so embrace it while it lasts!
